Why does my boyfriend sometimes after sex have pains?

I'm 23 and my boyfriend is 30. Sometimes during intercourse or right after it he feels pain in frenulum area. I think that has happened in situations when vagina hasn’t been too wet or after quick sex. Though, I would like to know if there might be some other reason. Please comment this situation. Thank you.
